Which of the Lexus or BMW will hold up… without motor oil?

The Carwow chain continues to innovate in the automotive experience. Lexus LS and BMW 7 Series, which are no longer roadworthy, passed a special test. Run without engine oil to see their resistance. Guaranteed results!

The Carwow chain continues to innovate in the automotive experience. Lexus LS and BMW 7 Series, which is no longer roadworthy, passed a special test. Run without engine oil to see their resistance and life. Guaranteed results!

Original idea

How long do you think you can drive without fuel? Essential for engine cooling, oil is used to lubricate and facilitate combustion. To answer this question, Mat Watson took on the challenge of driving two sedans without engine oil! Two models were chosen for this experiment.

On the one hand, a Lexus LS from a Japanese manufacturer and on the other hand, a BMW 7 Series, Germany’s first sedan. Equipped with V8 engines that have not been used for traffic, they push their limits to give us an incredible spectacle. To see which engine will die first, Mat Watson’s team has created two experiments. Sit back, turn up the volume and get under the hood!

Lexus vs. BMW: place your bets!

The first experience of resistance is related to idling the car for 30 seconds. After removing the covers, Mat, chrono in hand, notices the response of the engines and their noise. No problem is found at first. But the animator continues to play with two sedans. The engines are pushed to a maximum of 3,000 rpm and Lexus smokes a little. After 10 seconds at full volume, the Lexus V8 gives up its soul. It will have taken a total of 1 minute and 20 seconds without fuel.

Exit last

BMW has not said its last word. Mat Watson then decides to do a few laps with the 7 Series and discovers that the engine is still stalled. But after 7 minutes and 34 seconds, the engine fails after properly resisting. It will last 7 times longer than the Lexus engine! It’s a very fun experience but it will never be reproduced in real life!
