What will the new Amarok range look like in our area? Volkswagen France told us a little more about it.
After 12 years of good and faithful service, the Volkswagen Amarok has passed the torch to a completely new generation that was officially launched last July and that was created this time in collaboration with Ford. If you look at it it looks like an old Ford Ranger, that’s normal, it’s its technical cousin and they’re all produced in South Africa. Orders from Germany have not yet opened, but Volkswagen France has already told us how the lineup of the new version of its new program would be composed.
Two diesels of 204 and 240 hp for the Amarok
Heavier than before (length 5.35 m, + 9.6 cm), it is better to have a solid block to move it. With us, it will produce at least 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque with its 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel. For all those who find this power a little weak, VW will also offer the Amarok with an almost anachronistic V6 3.0 of 240 hp and 600 Nm of torque, also diesel.. In both cases, the engines are connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Only one 5-seater two-chamber configuration will be offered. We imagine that the pickup will not suffer a CO2 penalty using the same trick as the Ranger Raptor. To be confirmed, all like the price elsewhere. See you a little later at the end of the year.
