Volkswagen creates a surprise with an original concept car based on the ID.4 GTX: the ID.XTREME concept. This structure is presented directly to the public during the identification event. Treffen, in Locarno, Switzerland. The brand would like to make this meeting similar to the Wörthersee in Austria, which brings together Volkswagen GTI fans every year!
This 100% electric all-terrain concept with all-wheel drive is heralded as the most powerful electric Volkswagen to date.
So it takes the basis of the electric model of the most powerful series, the ID.4 GTX, but adds more power. Profit is advertised at 30%! The total power increases from 65 kW to increase to 285 kW, thanks to the high-performance engine mounted on the rear axle, but also to the modification of the software in the engine control unit. Performance and autonomy figures are not announced on this display, which aims above all to impress.
The impressive appearance of this ID.XTREME concept
The beauty is not to be outdone by the large 18-inch wheels shod with all-terrain tires, widened fenders by 50 mm (made with 3D printing), and bull protection at the level of the front bumper. We do not forget the LED ramp above the windshield, as well as the cover that wears the bodywork and patterns on the sides. The aluminum base is completely square to avoid unpleasant surprises: it would be a shame to damage the base of the electric car, and therefore the expensive battery (here with a capacity of 82 kWh)!
Even the sound has been recreated with sound generators placed in each wheel arch, and sound created by Volkswagen Design.
To a lesser extent, this new model may remind you of the Mercedes EQC 4×4².
The follow-up given to this project may depend on the reception given by the public in Locarno. We also hope he will be at the Paris Motor Show next month!
