Volkswagen launches registration program for truck rental; see how it works

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus and Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) has launched, this Thursday (25), a truck registration service, VW Truck Rental. According to the companies, this is the first business model offered by a car manufacturer in the country.

“It’s a truck rental registration program, something that already happens with cars, which will help fleet management”, said the CEO of Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, Roberto Cortes.

The service will be offered in 150 stores of the network of authorized dealers. The automaker’s signature, one of the leaders in truck sales in Brazil, begins operations by offering six models.

The Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Services at Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, Ricardo Alouche, said the new registration service should attract all types of customers. “The self-employed will be interested in the service, and the small businessman will be interested in it. Today, we are starting a normal journey targeting small, medium and large companies, but the program was created to serve self-employed people and entrepreneurs,” he said in a press conference.

According to the executive, the pilot program starts with 100 units. “But there is no limit to the service capacity”, he reflected.

The CEO of VWFS, Rodrigo Capuruço, said that the difference of the plan is the version of the basic package with insurance and technology such as telemetry, which is not common in the foreign market. “The (truck rental) business is booming, this market is under development, but we have a clear vision of a value proposition.”

Roberto Cortes, for his part, explained that one of the problems of the renewal of the fleet by the authorities is the provision of loans. “Renting will suit some customers depending on the business, we definitely see this market as a trend that is here to stay.”

He added that the choice to sign up or buy will depend on the state of the macro economy. “Registration becomes more attractive in terms of tax and capital costs.”

The subscription service will have packages from R$3,679 to R$15,999 per month, the companies said.

The contracts can be for 36 or 60 months (deductible) with payment documents, IPVA, license, maintenance, insurance, implementation (can be trunk or dry load), as well as services such as telemetry.

“The product has already been born with an insurance offer, we are also removing the need for the customer to sell the car, we are going to increase the residual value of the car”, said Capuruço.
