Volkswagen begins production of a new electric Kombi in Germany

This explains why ID.Buzz has prices that exceed R$ 300 thousand. Deliveries in Europe will begin in the last quarter of the year. In the US, the wait time will be longer. Sales will begin in late 2023.

To meet the schedule in Europe, the Volkswagen needed to ensure water in the model assembly. In this way, the brand trained almost 4,000 employees. By 2022, the idea is to assemble up to 15,000 units in both passenger and cargo versions. Then the amount will increase to reach 130,000 units maximum capacity.



North American style changes

O VW ID.Buzz it uses a rear electric motor of 204 hp and 31.6 mkgf of instant torque. With it, the maximum speed is limited to 145 km / h and zero to 100 km / h takes 10.2 seconds.

With a 77 kWh battery pack, the electric Kombi has a range of 420 km. With rapid recharging, it can recover from 5% to 80% of energy in just 30 minutes at high power stations, and 170 kW – something that still rare in Brazil.

But the Kombi that emits no gas into the atmosphere will also be made in the United States. However, the idea is to offer a different version there, with more space to accommodate three rows of seats. In this way, the car must jump from the current 4.71 meters to almost 5 meters in height. That is, you can take up to seven people on board. Today – unlike the Old Lady – there are 5 seats. ID.Buzz can also have AWD traction in the configuration with two electric motors – one installed on each axle. Therefore, a power of 300 hp is expected.
