“Vettel cheered me up after Paul-Ricard”

Charles Leclerc has revealed that he received a text message from Sebastian Vettel after crashing at the French Grand Prix while leading the event.

Like Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc showed his “sadness” in the announcement of Sebastian Vettel’s retirement from Formula 1 at the end of this 2022 season.

At a press conference on Thursday at the Hungaroring, the Ferrari driver revealed that he often received text messages from the four-time world champion in difficult moments, such as last Sunday at the French Grand Prix.

“It’s sad. It’s sad for me, thoughreplied Leclerc, who rubbed shoulders with Vettel at the start of his career at Ferrari. Maybe he’ll be happier where he’s going. Obviously it will be strange not to see Seb in the paddock again. I learned a lot driving with him and he was always very nice to me. »

“Seb is a friend and he always sends me text messages, like he did after my accident in the French Grand Prix. He always tries to cheer me up when I’m going through a tough time. I’ll definitely miss seeing Seb in the paddock again, but I wish him all the best and I’m sure he’ll find other things that will make him happy in other ways. »
