Opel Astra saw the unveiling of the new generation in September 2021 and we have already driven it, but the arrival in the “land” of Portugal will only happen in the first quarter of 2022. It comes with a new design, more technology and a new engine. .
For the first time, the Astra leaves the technical base of General Motors and takes the same mechanical base as the new Peugeot 308 and DS 4 (EMP2). And as if that wasn’t amazing enough, this will still be the last Astra to use combustion engines: Opel will be 100% electric from 2028.
Therefore, there is no lack of interest in the new Opel Astra, which will be the big novelty of the Rüsselsheim brand for the coming year.

On the outside, the design is completely new, and the new Astra takes on the Vizor face with a heavily flared light signature, a detail that is complemented by the muscular line of the shoulders and the heavily sloping rear pillar.
But internally, the revolution is as much or greater than externally, and the stakes of digitization and connectivity are notorious.
And the engine?
The new Astra will be available for the first time with hybrid versions Plug in (PHEV) and in 2023 will receive an exclusive electric variant (Astra-e). However, for now, it will continue to offer diesel and petrol engines.
Hybrid versions Plug in, which are two, are based on a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine, an 81 kW (110 hp) electric motor and a 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. The less powerful version will have a maximum combined power of 180 hp and the more powerful 225 hp.

As for the combustion versions, they will be based on only two engines: a 1.2 turbocharged three-cylinder petrol with 130 hp and a 1.5 turbo Diesel with 130 hp. In both cases, they can be combined with a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
And the Astra Sports Tourer?
At the beginning of this month and of course, the expected Astra van, the Sports Tourer, follows the image (exterior and interior) of the five-door model, but it stands out, of course, for the additional space it offers.
Compared to its predecessor, the new Astra Sports Tourer achieves the task of being shorter (less than 60 mm, but interestingly, again by 70 mm between the axles), but it advertises a higher load capacity, which shows a better use of space.
The new German car advertises a capacity of 608 l (compared to 540 l of the previous generation), a figure that can be increased to 1634 l by folding the rear seats. In electric versions, these figures drop to 548 l and 1574 l, respectively.
The biggest difference to the car is in the date of arrival on the market. It is that if the Astra “car” will arrive in the first quarter of 2022, the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer will be available only in the second half of next year.
Grandland has also been renovated
But Opel’s year of 2022 will not be made only by the Astra. The Grandland SUV has been updated and comes with high expectations, despite losing the “X” in its design.
It is a to regeneratebut visually a new front part emerges, which also began to include the visual identity of the Vizor, as we said above about the Astra.
Inside, several changes have been made to make this Opel SUV more current. The biggest change is the layout of the dashboard, which follows what we have already seen, for example, in the new Mokka, placing two screens side by side, one for the instrumentation and the other for the infotainment system.
The Opel Grandland range has four engines: one petrol, one diesel and two hybrids. Plug inand in the most powerful, Hybrid4, Grandland combines a turbo 1.6 with 200 hp and two electric motors to produce a combined power of 300 hp.
