THE Toyota Motor threatening to stop production England if the government continues with its plans to ban the sale of cars hybrids from 2030.
The big manufacturer informed the government that the sales restrictions of its models hybrids impact on the company’s “manufacturing, retail and other business operations” and its “future investment” in the UK, according to a document seen by The Telegraph.
“If the government passes the SZEC (Zero Essential Emissions Capability) requirement that leads to an early end to the sale of new hybrid and hybrid vehicles in 2030, there will be an impact in several areas,” he wrote.
According to the document, Toyota also went back against the ministry’s plan to have manufacturers increase the percentage of electric vehicles sold by 2035.
The UK government has decided to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030, but plans to allow hybrids only for models with better environmental performance by 2035.
