this electric racing car is reminiscent of the famous 1100 OHC

It is one of the most famous racing cars in the history of Skoda. 1100 OHC of 1957 gives rise in 2022 to the virtual car concept, Skoda Vision GT. Designed on a computer, the car is a race track powered by an electric motor. This GT Vision is presented as part of an exhibition in Brussels, marking the Czech Presidency of the European Union.

With its futuristic lines and impressive LED bars, this Skoda Vision GT has nothing to do with the 1100 OHC anymore. That filiation can be found in the open roadwork that characterizes these two cars, as well as in the long wheelbase that they share. The Vision GT model also features Formula E single seats, and this two-piece rear wing.

Single seat, the Skoda Vision GT concept car has a single seat located in the middle of its cabin. The seat is also flexible, integrating into an active cockpit system “designed to compensate for g-forces”. This cockpit precisely mounts a futuristic steering wheel, made of carbon fiber. The cabinet also has a horizontal screen that acts as a windshield. The pilot’s helmet has a head-up display that displays information directly on his visor.

Can we drive it in Gran Turismo?

Skoda does not provide information on the characteristics of the car’s electric motorization. The Skoda Vision GT will be on display until January 8, 2022, at the Design Museum in Brussels.

Note that even if the name of this concept car evokes certain cars from the video game Gran Turismo, the appearance in the title of the car simulation does not seem to be planned at the time of writing these lines.

In short

Skoda pays homage to its popular 1100 OHC by unveiling the Skoda Vision GT. This concept car takes the form of an open-top racing car. A one-person seat, the cockpit includes a screen as a windshield, and information is displayed directly on the driver’s visor. The Vision GT has an electric motor.
