Peugeot has been testing the launch of the Landtrek in Brazil for two years. The model was launched in South American markets in November 2020, and is produced at the Nordex plant in Uruguay. However, the brand did not “hit the hammer”. And yet the product has not reached the Brazilian market, which is the largest in the continent. However, that may soon change. According to the investigation of the journalist Freire Neto, from Engines and Actions, the image of a lion will come to the country at the end of this year, but with the Fiat logo. Apparently, brands of Stellantis group will take advantage of the network of the Italian brand, which has more than 500 points of sale, to launch the use in Brazil. And that will be a big bet for Fiat, as Landtrek will strengthen the champion team. After all, the Strada and Toro pickups are the two best-selling pickups in the country. With a model borrowed from Peugeot, the Italian brand will start in the mid-size truck segment. And it can already challenge the leader Toyota Hilux, as well as Chevrolet S10, Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier, Mitsubishi L200 Triton Sport and Volkswagen Amarok.
It is worth mentioning that the pickup is already being tested in Brazil and has been spotted. There is no confirmation of the versions and prices yet, but the automaker is expected to offer only one version of the Landtrek. Prices should be between R$250,000 and R$290,000.
turbo diesel engine
As of now, it is not known which engine will equip the pickup. However, as predicted by Car magazine Last year, the pickup must come with 2.0 turbodiesel which gives 180 hp of power and 40.8 mkgf of torque. However, it can be modified to receive more performance, reaching around 220 hp. The transmission is a six-speed automatic. Traction must be 4×2 (rear) with reduced 4×4 option.
Peugeot registered the pickup in Brazil
