With its unique dynamic appearance and Fastback design, the new PEUGEOT 408 had to inspire. It was for a talented team of artists, engineers and technicians from a Parisian design studio Very nicewho implemented the project envisioned by the agency Open it and turn it into a surprising reality that seems to defy gravity.

These experts in short-term installation design have created this arrangement. “The Sphere” is a truly unexpected experience; what’s above? What’s below? How can the new PEUGEOT 408 flip or twist to move in an unprecedented way? Answer it is therefore this transparent “Sphere” that surrounds the car and thus shows it from all angles.

This early stage was set in the unique setting of the Louvre-Lens; The new PEUGEOT408, with a sporty and fluid design at the same time, is therefore presented in a unique functional form, emphasizing the aerodynamic characteristics of the model.

Interesting environment, like a car

The Sphere allows the new PEUGEOT 408 to be suspended and displayed as if it has no weight, rotating the entire car so that it can be appreciated from all sides. We wanted to show the changes that come with the new PEUGEOT 408. To do this, we had to defy gravity and create a layout that can easily turn the new PEUGEOT 408 into any position and allow people to discover its design. This arrangement had to be as interesting and unexpected as the car itself. Thus was born The Sphere “Explain Stephane Lecoq, Chief Creative Officer of the agency Open it before proceeding: When form meets function in unexpected ways, then interesting results can be achieved. The construction of the “Sphere” and its operation, both physical and aesthetic, required very creative ideas. »

A little planning technique…

The entire structure of “La Sphère” is made of high-strength steel and covered with a protective layer of silver epoxy. The clear bubble/sphere is made of soft PVC, allowing for the discreet use of air blowers to keep the bubble inflated for easy viewing. Two large hoops, with a diameter of 5.10m, are equipped with a 4-wheel drive system, powered by 3,500 watt electric motors. A lot of force is used to control the rotation of the “Sphere” and maintain its center of gravity.

A place of astonishing beauty, as well as modern aesthetics, the Louvre-Lens was the perfect setting to launch this installation. Its elegant design of curved glass and aluminum facades embodies a modern aesthetic that maintains the grandeur of the Parisian original.
