The new Chevrolet Equinox should mark the arrival of the 2023 lineup

Anyone who enters the commercial website of Chevrolet faces a kind of limbo for the Equinox: the page only shows the silhouette of the model, and the words “coming soon”. This means that the manufacturer should finally bring an updated version of the SUV to Brazil, possibly already in the line of 2023. At the same time, it is not yet available in the brand’s dealers.

The redesign of the Chevrolet Equinox 2023 is smart and focused on the front: the grille, headlights and bumper show a new design. The new model has been on sale in North America for more than a year: almost here, an update has been expected since then, but the launch ended up being delayed due to the pandemic. It is worth noting that the SUV is imported from Mexico.

Because of this, until the arrival of the 2023 line, the Chevrolet Equinox will continue to go through a hiatus, which has lasted for several months in Brazil. The last cars brought to the country were of the 2021 line and they arrived late, in March of the same year. The last groups included units with a 1.5 turbo engine, with 172 hp and 27.8 kgfm of torque: the catalog no longer includes the turbo 2.0 option, with 262 hp and 37 kgfm.

At the moment, it is still too early to know if the more powerful engine will return to the country. What is expected, after much delay, is that at least the 1.5 engine will use flex technology and be able to use ethanol as well. Until now, all versions of the SUV can only run on gasoline: a big disadvantage compared to competitors such as Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Taos and Toyota Corolla Cross.

The Chevrolet Equinox Electric is expected to come out in 2023

In the United States, the Chevrolet Equinox should win the version with all-electric propulsion, but the launch is only scheduled for 2023. This means that, if it comes to Brazil, this option should still take longer than similar combustion engines.
