Earlier this Sunday (07/08), around 1:30 am, the Military Police recorded a traffic accident at the intersection of Rua Meja Jerônimo and Rua das Petúnias, in the center of Patos de Minas. The cars involved in the accident are a white Fiat/Toro, a silver GM/Corsa and a white Fiat/Palio.
After arriving at the scene, the troopers found a GM/Corsa car crossed at the intersection, and a Fiat/Toro car crashed into a Fiat/Palio. The latter was pinned to a street lamp post.
A witness reported to the military that, at the time of the accident, the traffic lights were flashing yellow and that a GM/Corsa car, driven by a 45-year-old man, was traveling through Rua das Petúnias towards Praça do Mercado. While crossing the intersection, he was hit by a Fiat/Toro car, driven by a 23-year-old boy, who was following Rua Meja Jerônimo towards Avenida Fátima Porto.
After the impact, the Fiat/Toro was thrown against the Fiat/Palio which was parked on the road and was crushed against a lamppost.
The driver of the Fiat/Toro was caught by the “Olho Vivo” camera, leaving the scene after the accident, but he was escorted and approached by the soldiers on Eufrásio Rodrigues Street, showing visible signs of intoxication. He was invited to take a breath test, but he refused.
Regarding injuries, a 41-year-old passenger from a GM/Corsa car had to be rescued to Santa Casa de Misericórdia complaining of back pain. The others involved were not injured.
With all the usual documents, the vehicles were given to the relevant party who planned to be removed. The driver of the Fiat/Toro was sent to the Civil Police station in Patos de Minas.
