System 1 | F1 Transfer: Upgrade to the remaining 4 to 5 buckets allocated

The transfer market in F1 is still not concluded after the European season, which is unusual. But having so many seats left officially awarded as the game starts in Asia and then the Americas is a lot more.

The situation has not progressed in the past few weeks since four teams still have seats to fill. Five if we believe that AlphaTauri can release Pierre Gasly. Let’s look at the situation.

Let’s start with Alfa Romeo F1, which is not really concerned with the market a priori. Guanyu Zhou should, logically, be renewed for at least one year, during which Alfa’s contract with Sauber expires. Théo Pourchaire, defended by Frédéric Vasseur, is not an option.

Some have suggested that Audi, which is aiming to take on Sauber for its 2026 entry, could put Mick Schumacher in the Chinese seat as early as 2023. If not, it’s currently an unlikely track. But who knows…

Schumacher is in danger, Ricciardo already ‘out’?

This makes it possible to connect with Especially F1 whereas Mick Schumacher is still on Günther Steiner’s roster. But he will no longer be the boss’ favorite and if he loses the support of Ferrari and Mattia Binotto, Steiner may look elsewhere. A decision that would greatly complicate Schumacher’s situation, because Haas would be looking for experience with a “non-aggressive” driver.

Nico Hülkenberg seems to be in the best position at the moment, Antonio Giovinazzi (Ferrari reserve) may also have a chance (in exchange for a reduced engine bill).

Let’s not forget Daniel Ricciardo, an experienced and famous pilot, who is in contact with Steiner but the latter did not fail to emphasize the low slope that the Australian has had for 2 years … the vice is very close to Ricciardo, who may decide to be a reserve soldier.

The most coveted seat, however, is located Alpine F1. He was abandoned by Fernando Alonso and Oscar Piastri, for his part, the French team failed to find their backs and stable contracts.

Is De Vries the key to the market?

Things are calm and the situation is associated with that ofAlpha Tauri. Obviously the n°1 option is Pierre Gasly, who should have been released in exchange for Colton Herta. With that possibility concluded, it remains to be seen whether AlphaTauri can or wants to replace the Frenchman as early as 2023. Only Nyck De Vries seems to be considered for this, with the Dutchman seen in Austria in talks with Helmut Marko.

But De Vries was also today in Alpine in Hungary, driving the A521, as part of the evaluation. For his team? For AlphaTauri? It is still a mystery at this time. The French team will also test Antonio Giovinazzi and Jack Doohan. When announced at the wheel, Mick Schumacher and Nico Hulkenberg will not take part in these tests after all. One can imagine that if De Vries does not sign with AlphaTauri (ie Gasly is not released), he should sign with Alpine F1.

The Dutchman has a 3rd option, however, Williams F1. Jost Capito did not hide his interest in De Vries, especially after the Monza performance. He would be ideal as a replacement for Nicholas Latifi, but De Vries will focus more if he can. Other solutions for Williams are called Mick Schumacher, Daniel Ricciardo or Logan Sargeant.

The latter is backed by Dorilton Capital thanks to his American nationality, but the F2 calendar means he won’t have confirmation of his Superlicence before mid-November. Unless Latifi comes back, but his level has dropped a lot this year, including Capito…
