Suzuki gives Dominique Aegerter a stunning debut in MotoGP during the Misano test.

The Swiss star will take over the reins of the GSX-RRs from the injured Joan Mir, who has been replaced by Kazuki Watanabe for the San Marino race weekend.

In addition to the MotoE title, Aegerter, 31, is the Supersport World Champion and has finished twice on the podium at the Suzuka 8 Hours. He also won a race in Moto2.

Aegerter: ‘A great opportunity – a dream’.

“This is great news for me and it’s definitely a great opportunity – a dream to ride in the Suzuki Factory Team and test the bike,” Aegerter said. “I’m really excited, and I want to say thank you to everyone who made this possible.

“I also want to thank my team, Ten Kate, at Supersport, who allowed me to take this opportunity. Riding a factory MotoGP is something I’ve always wanted to try, so I’m looking forward to jumping on the bike tomorrow and enjoying the opportunity. »

Shinichi Sahara, Project Manager at Suzuki, added: “Tomorrow we will have a special guest in the garage: Dominique Aegerter. After his victory in the 2022 MotoE World Championship, he will ride the GSX-RR.

“Instead of a real test program, it’s just an opportunity for him to ride our bike. Having fun on a MotoGP bike is not only a good way for him to show that he can be fast, but also, we can enjoy hearing a different perspective of a rider. »

The Misano test, the last MotoGP test of the season before Suzuki leaves the premier class, will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
