At the Lyon Motor Show, during which the Suzuki brand was represented by the groups Richard Drevet Automobiles (Villeurbanne, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Villefranche-sur-Saône) and Vulcain (Vénissieux), Stéphane Magnin took stock for a quarter of The first of 2022 and inventory of car accessories in the Internet *.
The Lyon Motor Show opened its doors at the end of a sluggish first quarter for the car market. What do you think of Suzuki’s performance?
The winners are those who have cars for sale, so commenting on the registration market is completely meaningless. According to the order portfolio, we have recorded 7,144 units since 1er In January, a decrease of 2% compared to the first quarter of 2021, which is a good performance in the current context. Our customer payments will be about 5,900 cars, or the equivalent of a quarter of the business for us. Otherwise, we have almost 2,000 vehicles in stock in the business at the beginning of the year, compared to 6,000 last year at the same time. We announce a delay of 5 to 6 months. We will try to conclude the first semester of registration between 10,000 and 11,000. We hope to benefit from better production from the second half, which will allow us to finish the year between 23,000 and 24,000 units.
What is the main reason now?
The production of cars that come to us from Japan, in particular Quick, which accounts for 42% of our sales, and the Ignis, which is our model that is suffering the most. The extension of the deadline is always due to the shortage of semiconductors as well as ECU (engine computer) boxes, for a period of three months. We are experiencing few problems on Vitara and S-Crosswhich are made in Hungary, although the situation is also getting worse.
“We manage the commercial policy in the quarter”
How do you help businesses in this context?
Suppliers have signed a target of 24,500 units for the financial year 2022, but we are actually testing and adjusting the commercial policy for the quarter. For example, in the second trimester. the target now is only 4,500 invoices for tradersagainst 6,000 previously.
How useful was the internet in 2021?
The average profit of the Suzuki network is 1.7% in 2021, compared to 1.9% in 2019 and 1.1% in 2020. The network therefore remains profitable, with an average of 180 cars sold per dealer. It should be noted that our distributors located in the Rhône-Alpes region achieve the highest performance in terms of volume and market share, these reach almost 4% in Savoie, for example.
READING. Suzuki. “We have closed cooperation with our traders”
What is your position on the “new distribution agreement”?
It’s not really a lesson at Suzuki. We are already going to read the new European regulations, which should be published in July 2022. The current agreement suits us perfectly and we tend not to have any changes or minor amendments to the regulations. For Suzuki worldwide, the distribution network is very important, regardless of its form. We have never required our dealers to over-invest in structures. We asked for a modified investment based on our standards.
