SsangYong launches the new Rexton

The Rexton returns to the top of Korean manufacturer SsangYong’s lineup, in 5- and 7-seat versions. This 4×4 is powered by a 202 hp diesel mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Prices start at 39,990 euros including VAT.

SsangYong is preparing to relaunch the Rexton, its top model, which had temporarily disappeared from the catalog in 2020 and remains available in light use. Thanks to the new 2.2 diesel engine, this large and luxurious SUV has been brought up to date with current production standards. The first generation of Rexton was launched in 2001 and was renewed in 2017. The new version that we see arriving today is based on the Rexton that appeared in 2017 but received – earlier than expected – a complete upgrade that concerns its exterior style and. its passenger compartment, its equipment and its engine. On the outside, the new Rexton is instantly recognizable with its wide honeycomb grille. It is equipped with thin full LED lights.

This new version once again offers a generous level of equipment. Even the basic version is already well equipped: it now receives a Bluetooth-compatible navigation system and a heated steering wheel. For the first time, Rexton will also be available with digital instruments (12.3″ screen) and induction smartphone charger. One of the main innovations concerns the 4-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 2.2 liters, which complies with the Euro 6d emission standard (stage 2).

This turbocharged block is very powerful: it develops 202 hp (+ 15 hp), with a maximum torque of 441 Nm (+ 20 Nm), available from 1,600 rpm. It is mated exclusively to an 8-speed electronically controlled automatic gearbox with “shift by wire” technology. Elegant, the Rexton is also hard working, thanks in particular to its impressive 3.5-tonne curb weight. The new Rexton is available in 3 trim levels (Crystal, Quartz and Sapphire) and can be ordered now.
