Alfa Romeo had announced that it wanted to launch a new one for the year from 2022. The manufacturer, which will abandon fuel in 2027, will launch its first zero-emission car from 2024.
For a long time, Alfa Romeo had to struggle with a poor, aging inventory and an uncertain long-term vision. With the merger of Stellantis, Alfa Romeo now dreams of another hope for a lasting and successful revival. For this, the Italian brand now relies on its new CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, sent by Carlos Tavares to Turin to take control of a brand that has one of the most passionate audiences in the automotive world.
And the man was quick to draw its expectations: cars focused on driving pleasure, reduced space for on-board screens, and… one new feature per year from 2022. The Tonale will be the first chapter of Alfa Romeo’s launch, followed by the rest of 2023, but the big wave of the new generation will land in 2024.
Alpha, fingers in the hole
Contrary to Peugeot which will use, especially for the future 3008, an improved version of the current EMP2 platform, Alfa Romeo will qualify for a new generation of 100% electric vehicle platform, christened STLA. Several levels are already in the program (Small, Medium, Large and “Frame” service), but it should logically be the STLA Medium that will be used for Alfa Romeo, with powers that can go up to around 500 hp.
Our colleagues fromCoach also announce that the first lightning “Alfa” will see the light of day in 2024. If we do not know the work of the body, It can be difficult, even if at this time, Jean-Philippe Imparato refuses to comment. At the moment, the car has only been delivered to distributors, while waiting to validate the business plan to present the project to the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, for final approval.
The new French boss of Alfa Romeo had chosen a good formula to talk about the current state of the manufacturer: “you can’t be half pregnant”. Understanding this that regeneration must be done completely, or not done.
Alfa Romeo’s current plan therefore extends to 2025 and is already forecasting An important innovation, especially in the SUV segment. The second plan will be from 2025 to 2030 and will focus on technology and connectivity. But Imparato already notes that QV models can always be electric, and that the return of emblematic machines such as the GTV has not been ruled out. So let’s hope the pregnancy goes well and ends.
