Sertões Sunday celebration in Presidente Prudente

The largest gathering in the world had an unforgettable Sunday. Presidente Prudente (SP) gave the Sertões BRB 30 years a welcome with the ability to move from the most experienced to the newcomers; something that has never been witnessed in these three decades of history, and deserves a major edition. No less than 20,000 people, according to the estimates of the authorities, went to Parque do Povo to welcome the competitors in their motorcycles, cars and UTVs. The cars were escorted by motorcyclists from the city groups at the entrance to the road prepared for the event. Throughout that period, they had the opportunity to win back the public’s love and energize themselves for what lies ahead.

The special of the day, with 303 kilometers in time, was not less than the pleasure of pilots and navigators, and two very different places. In the beginning, wide straights and many bumps that took the machine off the ground. After refueling (for motorcycles and UTVs), the sugarcane fields changed the landscape and required a lot of navigation. A combination that rewarded use.

Not by chance, the three champions were winners of the stage called Braço Forte (all were named after quotes from the National Anthem), in honor of the Centenary of Independence. On a motorcycle, the Frenchman Adrien Metge (Yamaha), who defends the title, beat Bissinho Zavatti (Honda) by 148 minutes. The positions are repeated in the assembly.

In UTV, Bruno Varela (champion in 2017) and Gustavo Bortolanza (Can-Am Maverick/Varela Racing) had an excellent rivalry that, at the moment, is happening like a family. They won the stage ahead of two-time champions Deninho Casarini and Ivo Mayer (Can-Am Maverick/Can-Am Factory). Bruno commands the general followed by the brothers Rodrigo and Gabriel.

Lucas Moraes and Kaíque Bentivoglio (Toyota Hilux Overdrive T1+/MEM) maintained their unbeaten record between cars. The 2019 champions passed this time Marcos Baumgart and Kleber CIncea (Toyota Hilux IMA T1/X Rally). Here too the spaces reflect the convention.

Towards the Pantanal

The 30th course of the Sertões BRB will take the participants this Monday (the 29th) to another Brazilian region and biome. The expedition aims towards Campo Grande (MS), the gateway to the Pantanal. Theoretically, the ‘Formoso Céu’ stage is 786 km long. (of which 307 are overdue), but the last part (344 km) will be covered by vehicles loaded on support trucks, due to logistics and distance.

In the first 150 km, farm roads dominate, with sand and gravel terrain. Straight lines and hills are there, before gravel sections, sugar cane fields and landscapes that are very reminiscent of the Pantanal.
