You probably know Seat through the many cars sold under its logo, but did you know that the Spanish company wants to change and invest in mobility in the broadest sense of the word? Here is our test of the Seat MÓ eScooter 125 electric scooter.

Mobility, in the broadest sense of the word, is today a niche in which large car groups, but not only, are running to provide solutions to the new problems of the sector. Within the Renault group, for example, a special entity, called Motivate, is dedicated to new forms of mobility. In the case of Seat, mobility is also at the heart of the company’s policy, the brand aims to no longer be a complete car manufacturer, but the most international player in mobility.

With the eKick 25 and 65 scooters, Seat already offers several alternative mobility solutions. After electric scooters, the brand offers a 125 cm electric scooter that enters the booming segment. The statistics are also very telling with more than 25,000 electric motorcycles sold in the Old Mainland last year, with an astonishing forecast of an eight-fold increase in sales by 2025.

At the moment, these are equal to 50 cm3 which accounts for the majority of electric motorcycle sales in Europe, especially since the expensive BMW C Evolution left the inventory of the propeller company, waiting for its replacement, less unique and less powerful, which should arrive from here in a few weeks.

With its MÓ Chair, the Spanish company did not go far in search of development, as it is a model of the restored Silence S01, another Spanish manufacturer whose R&D and production is located in Barcelona. . for beauty, the difference is small between the Silent S01 and Kiti MÓ, or even absent, apart from the logo and the three colors available on the Kit (Aluminium Grey, Bold Red and Oxygen White, count 75 euros for gray and red). In terms of equipment, the Seat MÓ has two USB-A sockets and an apron hook, while the 39 liter trunk, located under the saddle, can carry a full face helmet and a small jet.

Battery, capable of 5.6kWhallows Kit MÓ to display the respectable independence of 137 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. During our test, we can therefore have a few hundred kilometers, which is still enough for daily trips in an urban environment, and even a little more if compact. You can charge the battery through a socket on the side of the scooter allowing you to plug it into a mains socket. But if your two wheels lie on the road, The battery is removable and can be removed from the side quite easily. It has two small wheels and a telescopic handle to move the 41 kg battery without much effort. Good luck if you live on the fifth floor without an elevator, however.

Having a removable battery obviously reduces the risk of theft significantly. It will take between 6 and 8 hours for a full charge. Thanks to the application that will be available next June, it will also be possible to know the freedom of the motorcycle, but also to geolocate it and be alerted if the vehicle is moved. In the equipment list, we find many features compatible with this motorcycle, starting with top boxcustom apron, smartphone holder and top windshield.

Are you comfortable everywhere, all the time?

For our test, we took the MÓ seat in Paris, where the traffic is still heavy, but less so in the middle of the afternoon. Thanks to its motor, located on the rear wheel, of 7 kW (9.5 horsepower) or 9 kW (12.2 horsepower) in “Sport” mode and 240 Nm of torque, The small iberia scooter glides everywhere and gives the feeling of being on a bike as it is simple and light (155 kg with battery), especially when you come from, like yours, a hot motorcycle of more than 200 kg.

The absence of noise and vibration is a treat in the city, for the driver and for passers-by who do not suffer the terrible noise of some small fuel scooters under full speed. And 0 to 50 km / h is done inside 3.9 secondsthe speed settings are quite accurate.

The motorcycle benefits from three driving modes “Eco”, “City” and “Sport”, the first with a limited acceleration and top speed (reduced to 85 km/h), while the “Sport” mode is more pleasant every day and enhanced energy recovery and increased acceleration, without leaving anyone behind at red lights either. The maximum speed is limited to 95 km / hbut a short passage on the fast road allowed us, without much difficulty and without descent, to reach 108 km / h, all with good stability, moreover.

In terms of comfort, the Seat MÓ does quite well, but like many small motorcycles, once the coating wears off, it becomes difficult. On the cobblestones of the Place de la Concorde, where some potholes are too dangerous for motorbikes and bicycles, our little electric scooter seemed very dry when pressed.

A few flaws, but nothing major

In the middle, the small size of the MÓ Chair encourages you to jump around, and sometimes we forget that the mirrors protrude beyond the handlebars. Unlike fuel motorcycles and maxi-scooters, the mirrors do not go over the cars. It’s also too small to have a good look. Other complaints include the digital dashboard display, with the degree of freedom remaining on the large side and the speed on the small side.

At 50 cm horizontal3 which is not supposed to exceed 45 km per hour, why not, but not for a scooter capable of exceeding the speed limit approved in the city. The other bad side, lack of ABSdevices that become more democratic in the 125 cm category3and which would have its place on this scooter, especially in rainy weather and on cobblestones.

Our test models didn’t have a higher windshield, the smaller windshield wasn’t very useful on a fast track, the head and shoulders are therefore completely exposed to the wind. In the city, on the other hand, the system of our test models is more than enough. To facilitate manoeuvrability, especially when parking on a slope, Seat MÓ is equipped with reverse gear.

It’s practical, but it’s a pity that you have to keep pressing the button during maneuvers, especially since it’s behind the handles, without enabling the maintenance of the knives during parking. Another slightly annoying detail is the sound of the turn signals, anything but reasonable, with a “beep” that seems straight out of a video game from the early 2000s.

Seat MÓ eScooter 125 price and release date

Regarding the financial aspect, the MÓ Chair starts 6700 euroswhich we have to decide ecological bonus of 900 euros dedicated to electric two-wheelers. The brand also offers a long-term lease offer through its financial hostage, i.e. Volkswagen Bank. The scooter is thus obtained from 125 euros per month for 37 months with a limit of 15,000 km, or 5,000 km per year in three years. The first contribution is taken with a bonus of 900 euros.

Kiti MÓ will be available from June 9th and will be distributed within Kiti’s network. The distribution process is amazing, as the agreement is slowly disappearing from the cities, even where this motorcycle will be used. The brand does not plan to distribute its vehicle through two-wheeler dealers, which could hamper sales, whereas other motorcycles, starting with the Silence S01, can be found quite easily at a specialist dealer, electric or otherwise.

In inner Paris, there is only one seller of the remaining Set in 17th arrondissement, while the closest ones are near Argenteuil (95), Rueil-Malmaison (92) or Fresnes (94).
