Schumacher gives way to Giovinazzi during EL1 at Monza

As already announced by the Haas team, Antonio Giovinazzi will participate in the first free training session of the Italian Premier League. It is Mick Schumacher who will give way to the Italian driver this Friday at Monza.

The Scuderia Ferrari reserve driver will join the Haas team this Friday for the first free practice session at Monza. So it is German driver Mick Schumacher who will give up his seat this time. Antonio Giovinazzi will also take part in the EL1 United States Grand Prix scheduled for October at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas and will then replace Kevin Magnussen.

“We are delighted to welcome Antonio Giovinazzi back to the team for both outings in EL1.” commented Guenther Steiner, Haas F1 Team Principal.

The Italian driver has already driven in Formula 1 for the Alfa Romeo team as a starter from 2019 to 2021 before being replaced by Chinese Guanyu Zhou.

“Ferrari were keen to give Antonio some time behind the wheel of a special Formula 1 car at the end of the race and we were happy to help. We had a similar situation in 2017 with Antonio and Ferrari – the obvious difference between 2017 and now is the experience that he will have found in the competition in the last three seasons in Formula 1 and the opinion that he will be able to throw. said the Haas team boss.
