Buying a car represents a series of other costs, in insurance(s), fuel and, of course, maintenance, one of the factors that still weigh heavily in the purchase decision.

In its most recent report, it reveals the 10 cars sold in Portugal that are cheap to maintain and least likely to break down.
Tesla model 3
In the study, the Tesla Model 3 appears to be the cheapest new car to maintain. Despite the purchase cost, which is not low (from 54,990 euros), the experts at caredge.com calculate the 10-year maintenance cost of 3,500 euros. While the probability of facing major repairs is only 8.64%.
For the Toyota Prius, the maintenance cost over 10 years estimated by those involved in this study is 3,900 euros. In the first year the cost is around 150 euros, while in the last year the invoice paid in the workshop rises to 700 euros, making the intervention in the combustion engine of the hybrid system more demanding. The probability of making a major repair is 11.22%.
Completing the platform, another Toyota. The Corolla is the third cheapest car to maintain in the first decade, with an estimated cost of €4,000. The probability of being exposed to an intervention of more than 500 euros in this period is 11.89%.
Model Tesla S
Perhaps the car that makes the biggest difference between the cost and what you pay at the workshop, the Tesla Model S has an estimated value of 4,500 euros for maintenance in 10 years, with a low probability of major repairs (8 .64 %).
Tesla Model Y
Elon Musk’s branded SUV is more expensive to maintain than other cars in the range (4,600 euros) and the risk of serious damage also increases slightly (11.68%).
According to this study, the owner of a Toyota Supra will spend an average of 4,900 euros on its maintenance in 10 years, while the risk of major breakdown is 12.57%.
The estimated cost of 10 years for a Honda Civic is 5,160 euros and the risk of serious damage is 15.57%.
The Mazda3 will have an average maintenance cost over 10 years of €5,300, with a very low repair risk: 16.22%.
The Toyota SUV has its own hybrid system that makes maintenance very cheap, up to 5,300 euros in 10 years. The risk of suffering a crash is also not very high: 16.08%.
Toyota RAV4 closes the “top10”, with an average maintenance price over 10 years of 5,400 euros, while the probability of major repairs is 16.08%.
