Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10, 2020.. This release was somewhat eventful, we will see below, but a year later, we can say that it is commercially popular. During Black Friday 2021, it even found itself in the top sales on Steam.
💰 What is the price of Cyberpunk 2077?
On PC, the game is for sale 60 euros on Steam, Epic Games Store or GOG.com platforms. Suffers from frequent price drops. For example, it was sold for 30 euros last Black Friday.
On consoles, the situation is more complicated. Following the disastrous launch, the game was simply removed from the PS Store and the Xbox store. An unprecedented decision that accompanied the payment of money. I have never seen. Then he reappeared in June. It is now available for 50 euros on the PS Store and 70 euros on Xbox. As for the boxed version, it is still sold in specialized stores.

On consoles, things were more complicated. After being removed from the stores, the game is available again on the PS4 and Xbox One online stores, as we said above, following Cyberpunk’s work to fix bugs and improve optimization. However, we still advise against buying these versions, which are still very volatile. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, it was this old version that was working until then.
But since February 15, 2022, the next generation version of Cyberpunk 2077 has finally arrived on PS5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. CD Projekt RED has confirmed this through a new live session dedicated to the game. enjoy picture quality, a speed of around 60 fps in Performance mode, Ray-Tracing, balanced sound and reduced loading time. On the PS5, the game will use DualSense capabilities, i.e. dynamic triggers and haptic feedback.
As promised, this patch is free for all owners of the original game. In addition, players can try this version for free for 5 hours. Be careful though, this 1.5 patch definitely causes a lot of crashes and problems on PS4 and PC versions of the title. CD Project RED is still investigating the nature of this concern on PS4. As for PC, it is obviously a conflict with three audio programs, which are A-Volute, Nahimic and Sonic Studio. It is recommended to disable the drivers of these programs.
Finally, note that patch 1.6 released in September 2022 brings a major feature. Indeed, Cyberpunk 2077 can now use a keyboard / mouse combination on Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One consoles from Microsoft. So it joins a long list of names that are already compatible.
⌚ How long does it take to complete the game?
CD Projekt had made big promises about the game’s lifespan, even saying that it took more than 175 hours to complete. However, the reality is very different, as it takes twenty hours to complete the main story, and about fifty to do all the side activities. It’s already very long, but it’s still far from 175 hours. In our case, we completed the main campaign and all the side quests in less than forty-five hours.
🧾 Are expansions and DLC planned?
CD Project RED has already announced that its game will benefit DLC similar to the one we get in The Witcher 3. Before that, the title should benefit from free updates offering new weapons, new fights, new customization options, etc.
Several leaks already mention an online conference that will take place in February 2022. CD Projekt will present patch 1.5 there, which would be a real revival of the game. It may fix bugs but will also include new features, such as more dialogue, a. a redesigned interface and a general overhaul of the AI (among other things). In this event, the name will be renamed Cyberpunk Samurai Edition.
Moreover, the Polish studio would reveal the first exclusive DLC there. A major expansion that would take place in the Pacifica region and put the player in the middle of a gang war. The second would also be in development but its release would depend on the success of the first.
👨🏼🤝👨🏻 Multiplayer mode and mods for Cyberpunk 2077
The developers have confirmed the presence of multiplayer mode, but this is not yet available. Priority is reserved for solos, especially on bug fixes, they are still too many. CD Projekt confirmed that the multiplayer mode was developed separately from the main game and that you won’t have to wait any time soon. Indeed, CD Projekt is currently working on new technology that can connect multiplayer across all franchises. The idea would be to provide a common experience for players across different games by connecting them to each other. At the moment, we have no further information on the topic.
⚔ What kind of gameplay?
As a Wizard, Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG. But the similarities end there. While the first offered a third-person view (TPS), the second maintains a first-person view (FPS). An announcement that did not fail to be touched by society at that time.
So we leave the medieval and fantastical world in which Geralt de Riv evolves and proceed to dystopia. Unlike The Witcher where the player must control Geralt, you create your own character (who is called V)be it his physical appearance, his abilities and characteristics, and even his history (among the three options).
Cyberpunk 2077 presents the player travel in the open world where the situation is divided into missions (some are part of the main quest, others are optional and participate in fixing the situation or enhancing the gameplay).
In other words, you are free to explore the city and its surroundings and even cause as much mayhem as you like, just like Grand Theft Auto. Freedom of action is needed and you can enjoy your entertainment in Night City, even if the police system deserves to be improved.
Importance is given here to the narrative with a system of branches, narrators and decisions that have an impact not only on the course of the main situation, but also. about the options you are given to complete the mission, about the fixes and improvements that will be accessible to you, as well as the open world that continues. The final trailer for the game reveals all these details in a long video, as well as emphasizing the world.
On foot, by motorcycle or by car, the player can explore the notorious streets of Night City, a type of Los Angeles. The open world offered in this game consists of six districts with very different environments. Outside the city, there is even a vast desert to explore.
Note that the title is violent and contains explicit sexual scenes, which makes it a game not allowed for under 18s.
Cyberpunk 2077: a catastrophic release
Cyberpunk 2077 was easily the most anticipated game of the past decade. It must be said that CD Projekt’s promises were high and confidence was high after the masterpiece that was The Witcher 3. In December 2020, the game was finally released. And here is the drama.
On PC, bugs are legion and we clearly feel that we are playing a title that is still far from finished. But that’s nothing compared to the epic version released on PS4 and Xbox One. On these consoles, Cyberpunk was unplayable, rarely exceeding 25 frames per second and producing questionable graphics.
Very quickly, enthusiasm gave way to disappointment, then anger among the players. They had been deceived. The CD Project image, so perfect, is destroyed. He is still there today. Cyberpunk’s situation was so bad that the CEO of the studio had to apologize in a video. I have never seen.
Stories about the development of the game came out very quickly and it quickly became clear that the development was hellish, with unrealistic deadlines and endless problems. To top it off, Sony and Microsoft have decided to simply remove the game from their online marketing platform. The humiliation was complete. A completely failed version, therefore, that will mark the history of the media. The situation is even worse for CD Projekt that the game is good, more than the technical problems.
A year later, things have calmed down. CD Project has worked hard to fix that situation. While on PS4 and Xbox One, the title is still a shame (but now playable), the PC version has been improving for several months. We are currently on version 1.3 of the theme and browsing today is a lot of fun (despite a few bugs). On Black Friday 2021, it even became one of the most popular Steam games following a massive promotion and the reviews are now positive. Although Cyberpunk 2077 has been forever tainted by its release, here it is outside the mayhem.
In 2022, CD Projekt may give its game a second chance through version 1.5, called Samourai Edition. This would include many new features and would definitely fix bugs. It will be a good base to release exclusive DLCs.
