This is the second phase of Operation Aqua, which investigates the activities of money changers in the capital of Pernambuco. Three search and seizure warrants were executed at the addresses of people and companies in the neighborhoods of Pina and Ibura, both in the South Zone of Recife. The names of the beneficiaries were not released.

In addition to the luxury cars, documents and computers were seized. According to the Federal Police, the vehicles were acquired by the two money changers as a result of crimes against the National Financial System. Only the Porsche Panamera Turbo, seized this Friday (9), worth R$ 900 thousand, informed PF.

The Federal Court also ordered the freezing of the assets and accounts of the two defendants and their associated companies.

Despite being accused of the two for doing secret activities in foreign exchange activities and foreign currency evasion abroad, there is no clear warrant for the arrest of any of the suspects. Their names were also not released.

The operation was named Aqua because the two are owners of mineral water distribution companies. The Federal Police believe that, using the name of these companies, bank accounts were opened to carry out illegal financial transactions.

The investigation is based on information obtained in international cooperation with the United States, where the freezing of the money changers’ assets was also requested. The penalties given for the crimes for which money changers are investigated are up to ten years.
