Police: An embarrassed Mississippi resident uses a fake ID to buy $ 143,000 in cars from dealers – Magnolia State Live

Officials say a man used a fake Mississippi driver’s license to steal cars worth $ 143,000 before being arrested.

FOX 13 News in Memphis reports that Marqueze Blackwell, 36, has been charged with theft of property, identity theft, forgery and giving false financial information, according to Memphis police.

Police say Blackwell bought the 2017 Infiniti QX60 for around $ 30,000 from a Memphis business when he used someone else’s ID and issued a fake Mississippi driver’s license.

Police say Blackwell also issued false papers stating that he was the manager of a local lawn mower that made $ 5,000 a month.

The loan application was approved, and Blackwell was able to purchase Infiniti on July 29, 2021, police say.

In August, police said Blackwell used the same identity to obtain a loan to buy a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas for over $ 51,000 from a Memphis dealer.

Two months later, Blackwell allegedly bought a 2022 Kia Stinger for around $ 62,000, using the same ID.

Police say they contacted a real person with an identity card reportedly used by Blackwell. The Mississippi resident confirmed that he had never bought any car and had not given his identity permit to be used. The lawn mower also said no one in the name of the person Blackwell used had ever worked for them.

All three vehicles later arrived as stolen, according to the affidavit. The total value of the three vehicles is more than $ 143,000, officials said.
