POLESTAR O2This converter is equipped with a drone
Amazing design, sunroof and drone in the back: this car has something to give everyone the possibility to put themselves in the spotlight. Except that it should be attached to a concept car.
Influencers need to give their videos more detail to have a chance to get noticed on TikTok and so on. This involves the most interesting drone footage, at least in the car park, unless you just want to take a nice video of yourself driving, for your private album.
Either way, Polestar has a solution. He was baptized O2the new concept car from the Sino-Swedish automaker has an autonomous video drone, attached to the car behind the rear seats on a special bearing that creates a depressed area and thus allows the drone to take off while driving.
A little taste
Once in the air, it follows the car up to a maximum speed of 90 km / h and creates an atmospheric film or a more intense action sequence, which can initially be defined by the driver. As soon as it finishes recording, the drone flies itself to the car and then the video can be edited immediately and shared on the central 15-inch screen.2Says the head of design Maximilian Missoni.
The concept car was obviously not built with the idea of a drone, which would not be included in the production version. Polestar O2 it is mostly intended to redefine the sports convertible for the electric age. “Being able to lower the roof without hearing the engine noise promises a great driving experience,” enthuses Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar. “Polestar O2 it shows the level of our ability. It is a taste of what we can design and develop thanks to the talent and technology that we focus on in-house”.
The aluminum platform, on which the rigid converter sits, was manufactured in-house. This also serves as the basis for the future Polestar 5, whose launch is scheduled for 2025. The electric motor, whose internal code is P10 and which is also developed in-house, should be more powerful than that of the Porsche Taycan. On the American website Green Car Reports, Polestar’s American boss, Gregor Hembrough, announced a power target of 475 kW (646 hp). Thanks to the electric motor located on the front axle, the top-of-the-line Polestar 5 variant is expected to reach a system output of 650 kW (884 hp).
There is no variable forward
So this platform provides enough power for a convertible sports car. When asked if the Polestar O2 has the chance to be mass-produced, Thomas Ingenlath answers: “The Polestar O2 it is a concept car. Until further notice, there is no change planned in our business plan”, while adding a glimmer of hope: “But who knows? Our business plan ends in 2025. So nothing is impossible.
