Peugeot’s philosophy is simple: if something works, why not apply it in as many models as possible? That is precisely what they are doing with their new designs. And it is believed the favorable evaluations that the new 208 and 2008 got at the time have prompted SUV 3008 and 5008 to adopt this new design language as well.
A design in which the front, with its already distinctive light groups of fan-shaped LEDs, is gaining fans on a daily basis. In the instance of the bigger Peugeot SUV, modifications have been made to both the appearance and inside.
The new 5008’s lone ‘but’
Indeed, significant advancement has occurred in driver aid technology. It has Night Vision, which detects animals and pedestrians up to 250 meters away. Additionally, it features adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, active lane departure warning, automatic switching between low and high beams, Hill Assist Descent (HADC), lane assist, emergency automatic braking, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, Advanced Grip Control, and a blind-spot system.
The one caveat to this fresh new 5008 is that, unlike the new 3008, this SUV does not have a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
This Peugeot 5008 will be available in two gasoline and two diesel engines with 131 and 181 horsepower, respectively, but will not be available in a plug-in hybrid configuration. Those who want to experience a 5008 equipped with this engine will undoubtedly have to wait for the next generation.
Given the state of the hybrid market and the growing limitations on their circulation, this is not a trivial matter. Of course, apart from this inconvenience, we have an SUV to consider.

Peugeot has been manufacturing the Peugeot 5008 family crossover with the spirit of a minivan in the D category since 2009. Currently, the second generation is being sold, which was introduced in 2017 and underwent a significant redesign in 2020. The Peugeot 5008, like its smaller sibling, the Peugeot 3008, aims to compete in the luxury market by using high-quality materials and settings, comprehensive technology, and a beautiful appearance with futuristic overtones to set it apart. The Peugeot 5008 is produced in Rennes, France, at a PSA Group facility (France).
The exterior design of the Peugeot 5008
Regarding looks, the Peugeot 5008 borrows many design aspects from the Peugeot 3008 and 208, including the grille and the unique form of the front optics with Full-LED technology and the fangs that serve as daytime running lights. Additionally, the back has 3D-patterned LED lighting that complements the redesign’s overall contemporary appearance.
It is clear that an attempt was made to maintain the same roadmap for both models, although with the proportions of the 5008 being much bigger. The idea is to reimagine the most recognizable vehicle in the lion’s trademark line in a manner more akin to those of SUVs. It is available in five- and seven-seater configurations, with the latter featuring a 5 + 2 configuration.
The Peugeot 5008’s interior design
Inside, the concept gets more technical, with the addition of a 12.3-inch completely digital instrument panel and a 10-inch touch screen for the infotainment system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another distinguishing feature is the i-Cockpit driving position, which is also seen on other Peugeot models.
The Peugeot 5008 includes a number of technologies, the most notable of which are level 2 semi-autonomous driving, adaptive cruise control with aid for traffic jams and lane maintenance, night vision, a 360-degree camera, and autonomous emergency braking. The interior design focuses on simplicity and functionality, making it ideal for big families who need a lot of room.
Engines Peugeot 5008
In terms of mechanical supply, Peugeot has chosen to retain the engines that the Peugeot 5008 had prior to this upgrade, consisting of two gasoline engines and two diesel engines.
A 130 hp 1.2 PureTech with just three cylinders and a 180 hp 1.6 PureTech are available in gasoline, while a 130 hp 1.5 BlueHDI and a 180 hp 2.0 BlueHDI are available in diesel.
The significant innovation is that, in addition to the 6-speed manual transmission, 8-speed automatic transmission with torque converter will be offered on the two most powerful variants (180 hp).
While we will be unable to locate it with 4×4 traction, it does have a Grip Control system that enhances traction when paired with the M + S tire.
