Peugeot is working on a Coupé SUV, now known as the 4008 or 408 Cross, which will compete, once on the market, with Renault Arkana and the Citroen C5 X.
The next route from Peugeot, which has re-spyed, could take the name 408 Cross. According to the latest news, the new model could be renamed the Cross 408, instead of the “4008”, to better distinguish it from the various Peugeot SUV models.
Although the details of the structure are still hidden, we can clearly see the sloping roof layer leading to the included back damage. The ground clearance looks elevated compared to the standard sedan, but the silhouette is more aerodynamic than the SUV, thus creating a crossover effect for the sport. You can also see small LED lighting units, with back-to-back graphics similar to the 308 GT Line.
The new Peugeot 408 Cross is yet to be developed with the latest changes to the Stellantis Group EMP2 platform, the architecture that already serves as the basis for the new Peugeot 308, DS 4, Opel Astra and the new Citroen C5 X.
The Peugeot 408 Cross will probably use a weaker and more rechargeable hybrid engine, according to the French branding strategy. The full electronic version is also in the app as the platform is compatible with BEV.
It is also considered to be the most advanced version, as is the case today with the Peugeot 3008, it will be a plug-in hybrid that combines a 1.6-liter PureTech gasoline engine with one or two electric engines, capable of working. produces a total of between 180 and 225 hp in front-wheel drive versions, and up to 355 hp with all-wheel drive.
The new Peugeot 408 Cross will be operational by the end of 2022, or early 2023.
