The announcement of the end of production of the Dodge Journey in Mexico, in the last quarter of last year, already anticipated what will happen now. The last available parts of the Safari in Brazil have been sold and, with that, the Dodge brand is saying goodbye to Brazil.

The SUV was the only product released by the American manufacturer in Brazil since 2016, with the last order Durango – Dodge similar to the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but with seven seats.
After 12 years, the Dodge Journey concludes another Dodge tour in Brazil. It debuted here in 2008 in the SXT version with seven seats and the old 185 hp 2.7 V6 engine. But it came with a base version, the SE, with five seats and even hatchbacks.

In recent days, however, it was sold only in the top version of the R / T line with a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine with 280 hp and 34.9 kgfm, and a six-speed automatic transmission. The list price was R$149,900, which wasn’t bad for a seven-seat SUV, except for the fact that it was made in 2018.
It is also worth remembering the Fiat Freemont. It was nothing more than a Fiat version of the Safari that was distinguished by having a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.

The brand assured that customers will continue to be served as usual with service and support, repair and spare parts supply.
When we announced that the Safari would be discontinued, Stellantis, the group that Dodge is a part of, said that it was investigating the entry of new models into our market.

However, when contacted by the QUATRO RODAS report, the press office said that the company does not have a plan for the Brazilian market and that, at the moment, there is no intention to bring the news to the country.

The truth is that even Dodge’s inventory in the US is outdated. It still has the Charger, Challenger and Durango models. There is also the SRT line, a division that produces models with high-performance engines, but which is set to be closed by Stellantis in the next few years.
And even in the United States, the expectation is that the new generations of Charger and Challenger will be the only representatives of Dodge for years to come.
The history of Dodge in Brazil is full of events and adventures.
The brand reached the Brazilian market in 1947 through a partnership with Brasmotor, a company that was also responsible for assembling the first Volkswagens in Brazil and creating Brastemp.

Dodge trucks were brought broken down from the United States and welded and finished on national soil. Officially, however, its history began in 1967 with the acquisition of the French manufacturer Simca, which would end in the launch of the domestically produced Dodge Dart in 1969.
Dodge left our market in 1981 when a subsidiary was sold to Volkswagen of Germany and only returned in 1998 to produce the Dakota image. This last period was short and lasted until 2002. Today, Dodge is leaving Brazil once again.
