New car sales fall again in July


Sales of new cars fell further in July in France, by 7% compared to July 2021, with 107,547 registrations, announced on Monday August 1. Car platform, which represents the constructor. Some manufacturers had a worse July than others: leader Stellantis saw its sales fall by 9.91% with less than 36,000 cars sold, notably recording a steep decline for its flagship brand, Peugeot. Stellantis sales fell by 19.85% compared to the first seven months of 2021. Renault-Dacia saw its sales return by 10.84% ​​even if it remained at a low level, at 24,800 units. The group decreased by 8.72% for the year.

The Volkwagen Group saw its sales fall by 25%, to 13,526 units, with strong declines in the Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat brands, while Hyundai-Kia continued to grow with sales of 8,223 units (+9.77%). Sales of commercial vehicles also continue to fall sharply, “a reflection of the spirit of economic operators”, emphasizes François Roudier, with a drop of 24% in July and 24.35% in the first seven months of the year.
