More than one in four French people admit to throwing their waste out of their car window

Holy French!

Proof that we are full of controversy, the latest IPSOS survey has added water to an already well-watered mill.

While almost all French people (94%) think that the presence of waste harms the image of a city or region, and still 91% declare that throwing waste out of the car window can have serious consequences, still 27% of them admit to doing so when of their journeys on the road.

Worse, 41% admit to doing so on public roads. A particularly worrying sign because the situation is high: + 3 points compared to 2020, and even + 5 points compared to last year for paper, tissue and packaging (14%), and up to 6 points more for plastic bottles and other cans (10%).

Among the common waste disposal, we find again in the shot the thrown of cigarette butts. More than one in four smokers (26%) say they throw their cigarette butts out of their car window. An act of prohibition that can even be described as a crime in the middle of a drought.

Another particularly worrying data derived from this survey conducted by IPSOS from June 24 to 24 through the Internet among 2,165 people, 52% of those under the age of 35 admitted to throwing their waste on the public highway, and 36 % admit to doing so through. car window. One in four 16-24 year olds even throws a plastic bottle or can out the window, while 38% of smokers under 35 throw away their cigarette butts (49% of 16-24 year olds!) .

Without hope.

Do we really need to remember it? No, the road is not a garbage can.
