Kia wants to grow in the Brazilian market. With a current share of just 0.17 percent of total sales in Brazil in 2021, the South Korean automaker recently launched its new logo and brand positioning in the country, focusing on mobility and electrification. Among the new things, the first vehicle launched with the new brand identity was the Stonic hybrid SUV, a model that Kia aims to double the company’s sales in Brazil.
Although Kia’s growth plans in Brazil have been affected by the global semiconductor crisis, the South Korean automaker is preparing a package of innovations for the Brazilian market in 2022. Among them is the renewal of key models of the brand in the country. The new Sportage and Cerato, as well as the arrival of new cars. Check out the six new things that Kia should bring to Brazil in the coming years.
1. Kia Niro
The Kia Niro is already the South Korean brand’s long-standing commitment to Brazil. Shown for the first time to the Brazilian public in 2018, the Kia Niro was already on the table of Inmetro and had its launch confirmed for the end of 2021. However, the SUV should be launched in Brazil only in 2022 already in the next generation . which will be presented this Thursday (24) at the Seoul Salon (South Korea). With a slightly smaller size than the average SUV, the new Kia Niro will bet on hybrid versions to win over the Jeep Compass and Toyota Corolla Cross users.
2. Kia Sportage
Launched worldwide in June, the new Kia Sportage will arrive electric in Brazil in 2022. Under the hood, the new generation SUV will have the same set of hybrid Sorento, which produces 230 hp of power and performs up to 16.5 km / l with gasoline. With larger dimensions than the previous model, the new Sportage bets on a sleek design to maintain its leadership among passenger cars sold by Kia in Brazil.
3. Kia Seltos
Another model quoted to arrive in Brazil is the Kia Seltos SUV. An old promise from the South Korean automaker, the Seltos shares a platform with the Hyundai Creta. Still in the approval phase in the country, the model should arrive imported from South Korea. Overseas, the Seltos can be had with a 177 hp 1.6-liter turbo engine or the naturally aspirated Brazilian Crete 2.0-liter, tuned to produce 160 hp. There is still no date of arrival in Brazil, the new Kia Seltos should be placed under the new generation Sportage.
4. Kia Sorento
Revealed in 2020, the fourth generation Kia Sorento has a high chance of arriving in Brazil. Completely renovated, the seven-seater SUV bets on a package full of equipment and technological resources. One of the highlights of the new Kia Sorento is the hybrid version, which combines a 1.6-liter turbo engine with an electric motor. Together they produce 230 hp of combined power and 350 Nm of torque. Still without an official release date, the new Kia Sorento should be the brand’s top model in the country.
5. Kia Cerato
One of Kia’s best-selling cars in Brazil, the Cerato should receive a visual update soon. This is the same facelift that debuted on the sedan sold in South Korea and the United States. In addition to the design changes, the new Kia Cerato should also offer semi-autonomous driving equipment and a new multimedia center. As imported from Mexico, the new Cerato should arrive in Brazil in early 2022, or when stocks of the older-looking sedan run out.
6. Kia EV6
The first electric car in Kia’s history, the EV6 will be the South Korean automaker’s flagship car in Brazil. The Kia EV6 also introduces the E-GMP common electric platform and the brand’s new design philosophy. Released in South Korea in versions of up to 585 hp and up to 510 km of range, the Kia EV6 can also charge its batteries in just 18 minutes. The Kia EV6 is in the negotiation phase in Brazil, and should arrive in the country from May 2022.
