After a very encouraging 2021 season, McLaren presented its 2022 single-seater this Friday afternoon, named to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship. The British brand is the second team, after Aston Martin Racing, to present a car real ready to race. follow the track, in anticipation of the upcoming tests in Barcelona. At the same time, McLaren also presented the colors of its cars that will change in IndyCar (Dallara chassis and Chevrolet engine) and in the range of electric SUVs Extreme E, while these cars will have colors similar to the brand’s F1.

This new livery should please McLaren fans, as the MCL36 uses an orange livery as opposed to the papaya livery of recent seasons, as well as a dark blue color reminiscent of the Gulf’s years of sponsorship. So the blue color will fit without investment from the Gulf oil brand for a single seat that, according to the new regulations, is shorter and with fewer aeronymqiues attachments than the previous version. However, McLaren have chosen not to reveal their rear device for now, keeping the Barcelona test a surprise!

On the driver side, the Englishman Lando Norris will return, who recently signed a contract extension until 2025. In 2021, he had a very good season with four podiums and a pole position. “Last year was a great season, not only for me, but for the team as well,” Norris said. “I want to do better this year. I’m working hard with the team to keep climbing. It won’t be easy as all the teams will be the same, but we’re aiming for the podiums,” he adds.

For his part, Australian Daniel Ricciardo will start his 12th season in Formula 1. “Experience brings its share of benefits. With the game and the rules changing so much this season, there are probably little things I’ve learned over the seasons that can help me move forward in the situation a few, but we’ll see. There’s no guarantee that it can happen,” Norris’ teammate said. “The 2022 season will be exciting for us drivers, but also for the team and the fans. For us at McLaren, it will give us the opportunity to be more consistent in our pursuit to find the podium and win, and fight for the title one day. The new rules give us a good chance,” added Ricciardo, the surprise winner of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza last year.

Finally, remember that in IndyCar, the Dallara-Chevrolet of the McLaren team will be handed over to Mexico’s Pato O’Ward and Sweden’s Félix Rosenqvist. The liveries used by McLaren in its simulator (Esport) competitions were also presented today with the launch of the MCL36. You can discover this presentation in the video below…
