The first customer cars will be delivered early in the summer of 2022. By the way: If the CX-60 is still too small for you, Mazda has announced a seven-seater CX-80.

Even before the presentation of the CX-60, there was special information about the engine. Since then SUV based on “Large Platform”, long-installed engines are used.

Earlier in the development, Mazda promised to go for electricity, as opposed to the current downturn straight-six wanting to give. However, customers will have to wait a while for these engines.

Anyone who would prefer to have a six-cylinder recently made under the hood instead of a plug-in hybrid will have to be patient. From 2023 Mazda wants to offer the CX-60 with 3.3 liter diesel (Skyactiv D) in two power levels and from 2024 with a 3.0 liter petrol engine (e-Skyactiv X) – both as soft hybrids.
There is still no information about specific performance data. burners are included as usual rear wheel and voluntarily provided by all-wheel drive hybrid plug only available with four wheels.

Visually, the CX-60 makes a good impression. The design is quiet, reminiscent of the United States SUV. The radiator grille stands fast in the wind and is decorated with a lot of chrome in the upper trim “Takumi”. Thin and laid out on the outside front light giving the CX-60 a fleshy appearance.

The passenger cell is set too far back, the increments are short. 18-inch wheels come as standard, with 20-inch wheels available as an option. No surprises in the back, the elevated back lights are divided into two, the back light shown is fake. A trend that still takes some getting used to after several years.

More important than the tail pipes shown, however, is what is hidden behind the tailgate: 570 liters of luggage fits on the CX-60 trunk. If you reduce the rear seats (in a ratio of 40:20:40), you can load up to 1726 liters – here too Mazda is ahead of its German competitors. Unfortunately, plug-in drivers do not have to do without storage space, as a 17.8 kWh battery is installed at the bottom between the axles.

Lots of space in the Mazda CX-60

There is ample space in the front and rear, which is expected due to the 2.87 meter wheel. In the background, however, there is one point of criticism: the outer seats are very hard upholstered.

Space is much better than in a small CX-5, and the choice of equipment is always good. Ease of use is also positive – Mazda performs without the current touch style and instead uses buttons and buttons as well as a rotating button that simplifies performance.

Always advanced materials with light skin

If you do not like the light leather interior, you should go for the second top “Homura” accessories, which include black leather. The top model “Takumi” is always provided with a white interior.

“Driver Preferences Setting System” (only available for “Homura” and “Takumi”) is completely new. It uses surface recognition to automatically set and maintain the appropriate driving space for up to six different drivers. Unfortunately, we were not able to test the system at the time of submission, as it is currently in the final phase of testing.

In theory, it should work like this: The new driver gets into the CX-60 and enters its height in the infotainment system. The car then uses the camera to detect all the necessary parameters and automatically adjust the seating position, steering wheel, mirror and headlights.

Now the driver can adjust the settings according to personal preferences and finally save them. The next time you log in, the CX-60 detects the driver through eye monitoring and restores the final saved settings.
