London E-Prix: DS Automobiles takes 2nd place in the championship after the 1st race

Streets of London and the famous exhibition center ExCeL was organized on July 30 on the 13thth round of the 8th season of the ABB FIA Formula E world championship. Contested on the indoor track, the meeting allowed António Félix da Costa to make a good comeback from 11th on the 7thth seat at the wheel of his DS E-TENSE FE21. Better: thanks to this result, DS TECHEETAH captures 2th Team championship standings.

After his victory in the New York E-Prix, António Félix da Costa scored important points again in the British capital this Saturday. A good flight writer since 11th position on the grid, the Portuguese gave his experience and his race management to speak to cross the 7th space. An opportunity for supporters to take advantage of a great deal!

With six extra points for his counter, António now has 5 pointsth position, just behind teammate Jean-Éric Vergne. Despite a fast start, the Frenchman finished in 14thth position this Saturday following several events. However, JEV still has a good chance of finishing on the final podium at the end of the season.

Other encouraging news: DS TECHEETAH is still in contention for the tag team title. At the end of the first of two matches in London, the team has 234 units and holds place in the standings of the Team 30 points from the leaders. And three races still to go, in other words, everything can play!

The second round of the London E-Prix will take place tomorrow, Sunday July 31 at 3:00pm (local time), and the team will be out and about for the best result.

Thomas Chevaucher, DS Executive Director and Head of the DS TECHEETAH Team:

“The London circuit is not a track where our DS E-TENSE FE21 can show their usual performance. But thanks to Antonio’s good turn, we got important points that put DS TECHEETAH back in 2nd space. Now we have to focus on tomorrow’s race and I have faith in the team to deliver at a high level! »

Mark Preston, CEO of TECHEETAH:

“Difficult day in London… Qualifying was not as good as we expected because we could not qualify in a duel. In this circuit where it is difficult to pass, the work of our two drivers was therefore not easy in the race. Especially since they have been involved in incidents and hindered in their progress. Still, António brought home the points, which is good for the Team Championship. We are now in a good second place before tomorrow’s race. »

António Félix da Costa, Formula E champion in 2020:

“It was a bit difficult today. We didn’t have the speed we had recently. So today’s qualifying was tougher than usual. We’re struggling a bit here and we’re trying to find a rhythm wherever we can. In the end we qualified 11th and have completed 7th of race. So we still scored points and I think we were on pace to be in the Top 5. So we’re going to work hard tonight to get everyone ready for tomorrow. »

Jean-Éric Vergne, Formula E champion in 2018 and 2019:

“Today is a day to forget for me. A lot happened during the race… Fortunately, we have the second race tomorrow and we will give everything. We will continue to fight to get back to the top and leave London fast. »
