Although the launch of the new C3, scheduled for August will not take place, the C4 Cactus will hold its own as the only passenger car in the Citroen range in Brazil in 2022. The small SUV managed to win some market space and. has been maintaining a satisfactory level of sales, around 1,800 units per month, even without receiving news since its launch in 2018.
In the evaluation, Citroën C4 Cactus 2022, in the highest version of the Shine Pack, showed that it can stand out from the competition in certain aspects. But, of course, it also shows some weaknesses. Among the features, one that impresses the most is handling, above average within the segment. And the engine is the main factor in the model’s driving experience.
Performance is highlighted
The top version is the only one with the 1.6 Prince engine, better known as THP, with turbo and direct injection. Although no longer at the forefront of technology, this unit delivers a healthy 166hp on petrol and 173hp on ethanol. Torque is 24.5 kgfm at just 1,400 rpm.
However, the best thing is that all of this is pushing a very light body, weighing only 1,214 kg. Therefore, it cannot be different: Citroën C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022 offers performance almost worthy of a sports car. Whether on the road or in the city, empty or full, the compact SUV accelerates with a vengeance.
Other aspects of care are also interesting. The brakes, for example, with discs on all four wheels, are top of the line and show great efficiency. The electric drive may be direct, but it has a good reverse effect and does not affect it.
The suspension, on the other hand, manages to have the body roll in curves, providing good stability, but also provides sufficient ride comfort, absorbing road imperfections well. Generous height from the ground, at 22.5 cm, allows you to pass without worrying about speed bumps and other urban obstacles.
The only thing to improve, even, is the six-speed automatic transmission program: sometimes it holds gears too much. There is a Sport function, which makes the engine work at high revs, but the changes can be faster; nor are there paddle-shifts on the steering wheel for the driver to operate the gearbox continuously. At least, when driving without speed, the system works well.
Application of Citroen C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022
The use of Citroen C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022 was simply satisfactory. In the VRUM tests, the small SUV achieved 9.2 km/l in the city and 11.9 km/l on the highway, always with gas in the tank.
The interior mixes up and down
Inside, the Citroen C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022 has an average finish in its category, with hard plastics in many coatings. There are only small fabric inserts on the door handles and on the right side of the dashboard. The seats are upholstered in imitation leather material.
Interior space is also average compared to the competition, enough for four adults to be accommodated with some slack. In the back seat, however, the lack of pampering for passengers is glaring: there are no dedicated air vents, no USB port, and no central armrest.
The trunk, with a volume of 320 liters, is slightly larger than that of a compact hatch. To make matters worse, the opening has a very high base, which makes loading and unloading a difficult task. Access to the spare tire is from inside the room.
The driving position of the Citroën C4 Cactus Shine Pack is correct, with good visibility and easy access to controls. The seats support the body well. The steering wheel has a good grip and allows height and depth adjustment.
However, there are two mistakes on the board: the first is the digital instrument panel, which, in addition to being outdated, has a fuel gauge and a tachometer in the form of bars, which are not very accurate. Another inconvenience is the climate without physical buttons: the operation is through a small menu on the screen of the multimedia center and requires additional seconds of attention from the driver.
Talking about the multimedia center, the Citroën C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022 has a seven-inch screen and is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto systems. It has a USB port, as well as Bluetooth.
Citroën C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022 Accessories
Among the safety equipment, the highlight of the C4 Cactus Shine Pack is a package that Citroën calls Advanced Drive. It includes lane departure warning, fatigue, collision and automatic braking systems. There are also six airbags (front, side and curtain type), stability and traction control and hill start assistant.
The model also has a key with start button, digital climate, 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and the so-called Traction Control: a selector on the panel that configures controls and stability for different types of floors. asphalt, dirt, sand and mud.
Citroen C4 Cactus Shine Pack 2022 price
The Shine Pack version of the Citroën C4 Cactus costs R$138,990 on the line of 2022. This is slightly below the average of the segment, as the top versions of other competitors, such as Volkswagen T-Cross and Hyundai Creta, already exceed R $ 150 thousand.
Among the features, the Citroën C4 Cactus has the performance provided by the THP engine – the Shine Pack version is the only one with this mechanics -, the handling and the ability to live more like that of a hatch than that of an SUV, and less. seats: very The more compact size of the model encourages more urban use.
What is disappointing is the uncertainty about the future: the SUV has never been updated and is half abandoned by the manufacturer. Although sales figures do not suggest an immediate exit of the model from the market, Stellantis’ plans for the segment are still rough. It is not yet clear if Citroën will develop a new generation for the Brazilian market or if it will introduce an unprecedented product.
