The Kia EV6, the first electric model from the Korean brand, was chosen as the Car of the Year 2022 in Europe and has now won another title: Red Hot Design 2022.
According to a jury of 50 experts, the “introductory and forward-looking” model selected the Kia EV6 as ‘the best of the best’. Additionally, the electric crossover was named the winner of the Red Dot ‘Innovative Products’ category.
According to the manufacturer, as its first electric vehicle, the EV6 “signals a new direction for the brand as it becomes a leading provider of sustainable mobility solutions.” The model was developed with Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. It ensures a “strong” visual identity with a different combination of strong stylistic elements and sculptural forms.
The crossover is the first based on the company’s Global Electric Modular Platform (E-GMP). This gives the Kia EV6 some key features in its segment, such as interior space, a range of up to 528 kilometers and ultra-fast 800-volt charging technology. This allows charging from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Karim Habib, Director of Kia’s International Design Center, said that one of the goals is to equip future models with this characteristic.
We are committed to continuing to push the boundaries of automotive design and support the core of the product with innovative, bold and forward-looking designs.
The Kia EV6 should arrive in Brazil
Kia has not yet confirmed, but it should bring the EV6 to Brazil. The brand plans to launch several electric vehicles in the country in the coming years and, therefore, change the product offering of this type here. There are even reports of similar units being tested in the country.
