The RZ 450e incorporates many technological innovations, including One Motion Grip, the world’s first electronic steering wheel with Steer-by-Wire steering, and the DIRECT4 intelligent all-wheel drive system. The front and rear electric motors of the Lexus RZ 450e produce a combined power of 313 hp. The RZ 450e, which will go on sale in late 2022, is part of Lexus’ drive to become an electric brand by 2030.
The basic parameters of maneuverability and responsiveness are ensured by a new platform dedicated to electric vehicles that provides excellent body stability, a low center of gravity and a long wheelbase. The powerful lithium-ion battery is fully integrated into the chassis, under the cabin floor.
This new model can be reserved by French customers from April 20, in its version with all new technologies, especially Steer-By-Wire, for delivery in the second quarter of 2023. The first cars are available (without Steer-By ). -Wire) will arrive at retailers in January 2023.
The RZ uses Lexus’ e-Axle. It is a compact and simple assembly, placed between the wheels of the car, with motor, gear and ECU (Energy Control Unit). On the RZ, both front and rear axles work in conjunction with DIRECT4 all-wheel drive (details below) to distribute power to all four wheels depending on driving conditions.
The front engine delivers 150 kW (204 hp) and the rear 80 kW (109 hp), for a total combined power of 230 kW (313 hp).
