Five years after the creation of the alliance between the groups Renault-Nissan and Daimler, the joint venture between the brands Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz was announced today (29) for the production of the next generation of premium cars – the first units will be announced. produced from 2017.

The new COMPAS (Cooperation Manufacturing Plant Aguascalientes) production plant will be located in the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico, and will be 50% owned by Renault-Nissan and 50% owned by Daimler. Due to the investment of one million US dollars (R$ 3,341,300), the unit will have an initial capacity to produce 230,000 vehicles per year and generate 3,600 direct jobs by 2020.

“Aguascalientes has been chosen for its excellent supply chain and efficient production processes at Nissan in Mexico for more than 30 years,” explained Ryoji Kurosawa, CEO of COMPAS. The new facility will be near Nissan’s current Aguascalientes A2 plant. The first cars will be produced in 2017 under the Infiniti brand and in 2018 the first Mercedes-Benz cars will be launched.
