This week, our riders Antoine Joubert and Gabriel Gélinas tested the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 on the streets of Quebec.
“Hyundai IONIQ 5 [est] A brand new electric car is being developed on a brand new platform called E-GMP. [C’est] a platform that will be widely used in the next few years, ”explains Gabriel in the introduction. Antoine adds that it will use many other products, such as the Genesis GV60 and the Kia EV6.
In terms of beauty, the IONIQ 5 is unique with a longer wheelbase than the Hyundai Palisade and the same height as the Ford Mustang Mach-E. “Hyundai wants to sell it as an SUV […] I look at this and it is [plutôt] a small hatchback, “says Antoine.
However, columnists are saddened by the drag, which is disappointing for the electric car at 0.29. “That could be why a car consumes so much energy, a little more than other electric cars,” Antoine says. In addition, the IONIQ 5 can travel between 354 and 488 miles on charge depending on the selected version.
All versions of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 meet the requirements for receiving state and provincial grants. The competition includes the Kia EV6, Volkswagen ID.4, Ford Mustang Mach-E and two Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra.
