It is amazing what they would do without… On the night of Saturday July 2 to Sunday July 3, 2022, the steering wheel of the Audi R8 LMP900 unit, a rare factory structure, was stolen during Le Mans Classic. “Once the race my friend was running was over (Endurance Contest Stories, Editor’s Note), parked his car at the exhibition for guests. He was placed under a tent in Paddock Group C, “ explains Xavier Micheron, founder of the Ascott Collection (a Yvelines-based company that sells old cars), and also a participant in Le Mans Classic.
Ongoing investigation
Warned by his friend on Monday July 4th, Xavier Micheron decided to launch search statement on his Facebook page, “and awards” to him who will restore it. Estimated steering wheel price? Several thousand euros.
“It simply came to our notice then. It’s a shame to think that things are disappearing… We don’t encourage them to show off our cars ”, blames the founder of the Ascott Collection. According to him, another robbery was reported over the weekend, including tools. “It is still a shame to come up with this … This is not the purpose of such an event”, he beats a car fan. Following the robbery, police came to take fingerprints from the car and search for images from CCTV cameras. Investigations are ongoing.
