Hyundai unveils the N Vision 74 concept

Coming straight from Hyundai Motor’s heritage, the N Vision 74 is a high-performance laboratory powered by a hybrid hydrogen fuel cell system that underscores the company’s leadership role in sustainable performance technology. The N Vision 74 is inspired by design and technology and has its roots in the sustainable vision that the N presented in 2015 and Hyundai’s passion for high performance since 1974.

In terms of design, the N Vision 74 pays homage to the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe concept, designed by renowned automotive designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. This idea was rejected in the form of prototypes for the first sports model that was to be mass-produced by Hyundai. Although it did not make it into production, this bold approach set the tone for the entire company.

The N Vision 74 inherited clean surfaces, a dynamic silhouette perfectly balanced with the distinctive B-pillar shape of the 1974 Pony Coupe concept. The N Vision 74 perfectly symbolizes the convergence between Hyundai’s design heritage and the ‘electrification’ era. And the Parametric Pixel lights give it a futuristic touch.

“Looking to the future, the design of N Vision of the 74th It perfectly demonstrates how much we respect and appreciate the dedication and passion that went into the Pony Coupe concept”, he announced SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center.

The N 74 Vision elevates the bold look of the Pony Coupe Concept to the level of Hyundai’s future design, while reinterpreting the cabin as an entertainment space without losing the design purity of the Pony Coupe Concept. It features a driver-centric cockpit with a mix of heritage instruments and modern design, such as analog buttons and a digital instrument cluster.

Measuring 4952mm long, 1995mm wide and 1331mm high, with a wheelbase of 2905mm, it is the first rolling lab built based on the most advanced hydrogen fuel cell design Hyundai has ever produced. However, this is not the first time that N has tried hydrogen technology: the N Vision 74 has also taken its inspiration from the Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept car, unveiled in 2015 when the N brand was launched, to embody the future of the state high-performance hydrogen powered vehicles.

Just seven years later, Hyundai N presents the N Vision 74 and sets itself even greater goals by fulfilling its passion for “driving pleasure” and imagination. Hyundai engineers developed a hybrid model that combines a battery electric system with a fuel cell electric system that they put into a completely new configuration. Using the fuel cell and battery system together has improved the N Vision 74’s cooling while taking advantage of the fact that the two propulsion systems can be used independently, depending on the driving situation. This well-planned logic allows a better appreciation of the torque vector for the two rear-mounted motors, which allows a precise and responsive response to the turns. With a three-way cooling system, the N Vision 74 lets you explore the balance between performance and coolness.

Completely integrated into the design, this high performance technology makes it possible to fully meet the thermal management needs of the fuel cell. Thanks to this functional beauty, N Vision 74 makes it possible to explore the balance between modern technology and ethical design. With its high fuel efficiency and long range, the N Vision 74 uses advanced technologies to ensure driving pleasure and the use of sustainable energy sources.
