Christian Horner has revealed that Red Bull missed the opportunity to bring Oscar Piastri into their Youth Team when the young Australian was starting on the bench.
Today, considering the impressive performances of Mark Webber’s protégé in all the championships he has passed, the red bull regrets missing Piastri.
Speaking on the latest podcast Beyond the Grid from Formula 1, Horner insisted the Australian would be out of contract if he was a member of Red Bull’s youth programme.
“He ran the Arden team that was founded by my family in Formula 4 and Formula Renault, and it was already considered the talent of tomorrow.”said Horner.
“There was an opportunity for Red Bull to sign him at the time, and we didn’t take that option, which is something I regret.”recognizes the Englishman.

“What he achieved is incredible, especially in Formula 3 and Formula 2. Now, if he was a Red Bull Junior driver, he would be tied to us, firmly, for a while.”adds Horner.
