The life of the Opel Zafira-e has been changed during the Düsseldorf Motor Show. The 2022 edition of this event welcomes Crosscamp, the camper van specialist who presents for this event the electric Crosscamp Flex model based on the Opel Zafira-e Life. The goal? Combining practicality and flexibility with an emission-free engine.

This electrified vehicle has a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery to enjoy a range of 322 km according to the WLTP certification cycle. This is also placed under the floor of the Crosscamp Flex, to maintain good accommodation on board. According to Opel, a direct current (DC) charge of 100 kW restores 80% of the range in 48 minutes.

In order not to draw too much on this traction battery, the Crosscamp Flex electric model also has a 95 Ah battery. The latter provides the car with electricity to drive its lights, its cooling or even USB sockets that its residents use to connect various devices.

Space for four people on board

Inside this electric car still in the prototype stage, there are 180-degree front seats, a gas stove, a kitchenette, a sink and even built-in cabinets. Drinking water and waste are stored in separate tanks. Finally, the rear bench seat can be converted into a double bed, while the pop-up roof makes it possible to add two additional beds. So this Crosscamp Flex can accommodate up to four people.

According to Opel, the electric Crosscamp Flex should go on sale with the Crosscamp in 2023. The zero-emission vehicle should then be called the Crosscamp Lite. Its price is not yet known at the time of writing these lines.

In short

Opel is not officially releasing a modified version of its electric car, the Opel Zafira-e Life. Thus, the Crosscamp company unveils the Crosscamp Flex, an electric vehicle prototype developed from the Zafira e-Life. The range of this car is set at 322 km according to the WLTP certification cycle.
