Citroën is finalizing its electronic offer for the e-C4 hatchback variant, which should attract SUV lovers with its elevated clearance.
In Switzerland, old hatchbacks are considered old-fashioned. The rear door with an opening at the top placed itself in front of different trunks and hatchback sedans became rare. Despite this, Citroën now wants to revive this type of construction by drawing on a magic box: The French are also actually targeting SUV buyers initially giving them a C5 and now also an e-C4 with hospitality guards.
Features of the e-C4 X SUV are also available in the front section, on the side panels and on the terrace arches of the wheels. The slope of the roof towards the back gently from its highest point, in the middle of the front side windows, which can also attract fans of the sports coupe. The descent movement is suddenly interrupted by the upper edge of the boot reach. When opening, the back window does not go up.
Listen to customers
Vincent Cobée, boss of Citroën, explains that this extra variant was motivated by customer preferences. “Many told us they wanted a cheaper, more stylish alternative to most hatchback versions and SUVs in the compact class,” he says. Added to this is the fact that the 510-liter trunk is clearly separated from the passenger compartment and does not appear from the outside. With the loading of most products, the back seats can be folded individually.
The E-C4 X also outperforms its younger sister by 24 inches. It is enough to create a space of about 20 inches at the knees for the rear passengers. Values that can make e-C4 X as attractive as an electric taxi. The new model includes the shortest model technology, namely a 50 kWh battery, a 100 kW / 136 hp electric motor, a range of approximately 360 km and a fast recharge of 100 kW. Package that will also be included in Peugeot and Opel models. The new E-C4 X will arrive to dealers in early 2023. Its price has not yet been submitted.
