Dodge Cup: Three teams from East Quebec are regional champions

The Dodge Cup competition returned this season after a two-year absence due to the tragedy.

The women’s section of the event took place last week in Center-du-Québec. Two teams from Bas-Saint-Laurent, Cyclones Atome B and Pee-wee AA, returned as champions.

On the men’s side, this week, four regions, namely Gaspésie, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Côte-Nord and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, participated in organizing the tournament.

In the Midget BB division, Mariniers de Rimouski won 2-1 against Comètes d’Amos in the final at Center Henri-Desjardins, in Baie-Comeau.

Among the youngsters, two teams from the Magdalen Islands will return home with a trophy in hand.

In the final match at the Conrad-Parent Stadium in Sept-Îles, the Pee-wee Islands BB squad dominated their opponents with a 7-2 win over Saguenay’s Sags 2. During the tournament, Madelinot players scored 48 goals and conceded only 5.

The Atome BB Island squad also won the Cup following a 5-3 victory over the Chaudière-Appalaches Express 3 at the Luc-Germain Civic Center in the Gaspé.

The two teams from the Magdalen Islands remained undefeated throughout the tournament.

Another team from Eastern Quebec, Gladiateurs de la Baie-des-Chaleurs, reached the Dodge Cup final on Sunday, for their part in the Bantam BB unit. The players lost in extra time against La Sarre Lions.
