After launching it in Spain, Italy and Portugal, MG Motor Europe decided to sell the petrol MG ZS in France, at a very attractive price, which could put the Dacia Duster in trouble.
Starting today, the historic British carmaker, now part of the Chinese SAIC group, has chosen to market the electric version of the ZS EV in France, available to order on the official website from €26,490. Indeed, and according to the website ‘challenges.fr’, the Sino-British manufacturer MG hopes to expand its offering in France by offering the MG ZS SUV (petrol version) at a price of less than 20,000 €.
In Spain, for example, the ZS is offered in two trim levels, i.e. Comfort and Luxury, available respectively at a price of 12,950 and 14,950 euros. Under the hood, there is a 1.5 liter VTI petrol engine that develops 106 hp and 141 Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. This engine allows the MG SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 175 km/h. In terms of autonomy, it must be noted that the manufacturer has an average fuel consumption of 6.6 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km, according to the WLTP cycle.
MG ZS, a potential rival to the Dacia Duster
Taking the example of the MG ZS SUV in Spain, the latter arrives with a starting price of 15,950 euros. A lower price than that of the entry-level Duster, which starts at €16,740 (tax in Spain). This price, being less than 16,000 euros, makes the ZS a low-cost SUV that in the near future could displace the Dacia Duster. In addition, the MG is an SUV that enjoys, in addition to its modern design, a better equipment list compared to the Duster.
