At the beginning of 2019, Citroën launched the C5 Aircross, its first compact SUV, with a split design that featured unprecedented curves on the vehicle. The latest version of the C5 Aircross 2022 is now the smoothest and sleekest of the Citroën range. Absence of the double sway of the headlights and bonnet, the entire front face has been redesigned and the effect of this change is notable, with a sense of solidity and strength, without denying the assured aspect of this model. The rear face follows the movement but more discreetly. With this next generational change we will add the adoption of new upholstery whose comfort is further increased, if necessary, with 15 mm of high-density foam, for an even softer welcome and almost perfect support. .
Engine: no changes
However, the engines remain the same. With the well-known 1.5 turbo-diesel 130 hp/106 (from 28,900 euros including tax), 1.6 gasoline PHEV of 225 hp/31 g (from 41,750 euros including tax) and 1.2 gasoline turbo-130 / 119 g for access to range tested here (from 24,700 euros plus tax). Under the hood of the SUV with a length of 4.50 m, the latter is not suitable for 3-cyl. of relatively low power. But we can only consider long journeys involving consumption of more than 8 l/100 km. This engine however does its job for everyday use thanks to its great discretion.
Citroen C5 Aircross 2022: great comfort
Regardless of its engine, it is also one of the best features of the C5 Aircross: the silence that reigns on board. And with better filtering of the running gear, vibrations and rising bitumen are neutralized. Icing on the cake, the suspension and very comfortable seats provide a rare comfort on board for an SUV. And the new design enhances all these dynamic features. Finally, a surprise: the prices, which are already competitive, have dropped for the C5 Aircross PHEV, a rare thing today.
