O Hello Rondonia had the opportunity to appreciate and evaluate the Midnight version of the Chevrolet Cruze this week. With prices starting at R$ 142,650.00, it joins the LT, LTZ, Premier and RS in an effort to try and do something against the Toyota Corolla, the lagging segment leader.

With the end of Honda Civic production in Brazil, the Chevrolet Cruze line began to play a bigger role in the Brazilian market. If in 2021 the model finished the year in third place with about 7,000 units sold, this year it closed the first half of the year in second place with almost 5,000 units.

In this section, curiosity about the “cousin” Monza, which in the 1980s was able to be the best-selling model in Brazil for three years: in 1984, 1985 and 1986. At that time the model challenged the market with the Volkswagen Santana. and Ford Del Rey and completely dominated.

Coming back to the present and talking about the Chevrolet Cruze Midnight, like other versions, it has a 153-horsepower turbo engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The model brought to the Brazilian market a new concept for the Chevrolet Midnight edition: in addition to the black color Ouro Negro, the customer will have more options of metallic colors for the bodywork. They are Eclipse Blue and Satin Steel Gray.

Up front, the highlight starts with a Chevrolet tie with a black background and a darkened chrome bar frame that divides the turbo engine’s two air intakes. The grille with an aesthetic interior that focuses on technology is typical of a sedan. Hidden black headlights with LED daytime running lights and tank-style auxiliary lights complete the package.

On the side, the two-tone 17-inch wheels combine black and chrome for the first time. The same metal fillet fits the door knobs. The Midnight logo is located below the front door, in line with the exterior mirrors.

The absence of friezes is deliberate, so that the creases of the bodywork are highlighted, with the silhouette of the car marked with a drop of the roof similar to that of the coupe. The selection of exterior color options was also based on a color scheme that reflects light more accurately, highlighting the curves and strength of the car.

And despite an intentionally shorter rear end than traditional sedans, the Cruze Midnight offers plenty of room for five passengers and cargo. The wheelbase measures 2,700 mm and the trunk holds up to 440 liters.

Inside, the finishes from the ceiling to the soft-touch door covers and panels get dark tones too, as suggested by the version’s name.

The Cruze Midnight is also equipped with convenience features such as high seats and dashboard covers, air conditioning with electronic temperature control with automatic circulation system, push button start, electronic key for locking and unlocking the doors and a rear lid with proximity sensor. , in addition. adjusting the height of the headlights, rear parking sensor, cruise control and speed limiter.

As for the package of safety items, the model has front, side and curtain airbags, an audible warning for the use of seat belts in all seats, front seat belts with pretensioners and electronic stability with traction control and function of the hill start assistant.

Cruze Midnight also features MyLink with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, native Wi-Fi, OnStar for emergency and safety services, myChevrolet software for remote control of vehicle performance, as well as OTA (over the air) technology, which can promote updates to car. electronic systems through the Internet.
