Elsewhere, Formula 1 world championship leader Max Verstappen easily won Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, but starting a distant 14th on the grid. With this victory, the Dutchman has a comfortable lead of 93 points over his first player, who is now his team-mate Sergio Pérez.

Indeed, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc drops to the third step of the podium after his sixth place on the land of Spa. After a good start to the championship, the Ferrari driver, who looked powerless against the dominance of Red Bull this Sunday, therefore sees his hopes of winning the title fading. “With the speed they showed, I think it will be very difficult now,” he replied after the race.

To make matters worse, Charles Leclerc received a five-second penalty during this Belgian Grand Prix, forcing him to give up his fifth place in the final standings to Fernando Alonso. A penalty with significant consequences, but which did not seem to worry Ferrari more than that. So much so that the Italian team did not consider it necessary to inform its Monegasque driver, who was aware of this penalty… during the interview. “I wasn’t even told, I didn’t know”, replied Charles Leclerc, looking very surprised by this announcement, before asking for more details on this decision.

So there is a lot of work to be done on Ferrari’s part, in terms of the single seat… but also in terms of communication with its drivers!
